Named for Dr. Robert A. Hefner, a much-loved professor?throughout the 1950s and ’60s and founder/first director of the museum?that now bears his name (the Hefner Zoology Museum) ?the Hefner Lecture?is Miami’s premier biological sciences lecture. Established for a?general-public audience, the Hefner Lecture traditionally draws?approximately 300 people from the university community (faculty, staff,?and students) as well as from surrounding communities. Recent lecturers?include Carl Safina, Nalini Nadkarni, Douglas Smith, David MacDonald,?Ian Stirling, and Kenn Kaufman.
The Hefner Lecture is at 8pm on Thursday evening,?followed by a public reception at the Hefner Zoology Museum.
