Rachael Hughen is Ocean Doctor’s intern for the Cuba Conservancy Program. She supports the team in research and writing on a range of conservation, policy, and education topics. Rachael is a sophomore in the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University, double majoring in International Affairs and Geological Sciences. She is also a member of the Varsity Cross Country and Track teams at GW and a monthly contributor to the school’s undergraduate international affairs journal.
Rachael has a special interest in the intersection of politics, diplomacy, and the natural sciences. She hopes to use knowledge in both fields to contribute to the Cuba Conservancy’s unique mission. She has previously worked for human rights NGOs in DC and has studied abroad in Finland. Other interests include running, hang gliding, and painting.
